The Aces Casino Blog: The Annual Super Bowl Winner Prediction HAS Been Made! (Or, HAS It?)

When you work here at the top orange county casino night party company on the west coast, A.K.A. Aces Casino, you find out that, yes, we DO have a good time "at the company's expense."

Today was one of those days.

The muckety-mucks here at The Aces Casino Blog decided (a while back) that Wednesday, January 30th, 2019, was going to be the day that our company provides the masses with our annual Super Bowl 53 winning prediction.  Now, I know that most of our readers would probably place this priority in-between  "Gee-Whiz," and "Who Cares," but, actually, from a strictly historical sense here at The Aces Casino Blog, it means a lot.

A WHOLE lot.

Yes, It's true... We started this annual rite of passage as a total goof-off back in early 1995 just to poke fun at the yearly prognosticators that would come out on TV and radio and give their reasons for this team's or that team's chance to emerge victorious.  (Yawn.)  Well, we thought that maybe WE should get into the prediction biz, ourselves.

With one small caveat.  The deity making the yearly Super Bowl prediction for Aces Casino can NOT be a person.

That way, it'll be just a fun thing, no one here at Aces Casino gets hassled for his or her selection.  We're takin' the EASY way out.  We remember the day when the discussion began about just who (or what) should make the pick for us.  Ben Miller made the case to use our local-yokel, "Henny-Penny," the Knott's Berry Farm piano-playing chicken.  Aces Casino used to be located in Buena Park, and Knott's was right down the street.  Every time that we'd go over to Knott's, we'd ALWAYS visit Henny-Penny, and pay a 25-cent-piece to hear her tickle the ivories.

So -- In January of 1995, we went over to Knott's to find Ms. Penny, and when we did, we ran into Henny's handler, a man named Fred Nabors.  We came to Knott's with the two helmets for Super Bowl 29 (Chargers and 49ers), and asked Fred if he'd let Henny Penny out of her piano-jail, and let her make her pick.

He did... And on that day, Henny-Penny picked the 49ers to win SB 29.

And then..... For the next 16 years, we would return to Knott's, find Fred Nabors, and get Henny Penny to make her annual pick.  Result -- Henny Penny went 17-and-zero picking the Super Bowl.  Henny Penny was retired (at least, we HOPE that she 'retired') after pick 17, and we've been using animals far and wide, to make our picks.

Yes, we take our Super Bowl predictions seriously (Ed. Note: Bwahahahaa.), and to prove this fact, it's time to provide our official prediction on which team will prevail in SB 53.  Here's Honey, the dog, with her prediction!

Uhh, yeah, OK, that's not going to work.

OK, obviously, Our Aces Casino Entertainment mascot, Honey, the Puggle, decided that she'd need to be PAID, in order to provide us with her selection.  So, after finding two doggie treats, and placing one on each helmet replica representing the two teams, HERE is our Aces Casino Blog prediction on which team will win SB 53!

Looks like the Patriots, baby.  Had to pay her, but got the pick.

So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen -- From the company that has given you 21 out of 22 Super Bowl winners over the past 20+ years, the top orange county casino night party company in SoCal, you can relax, if you're a Patriot fan.  Honey has selected New England as the winner of SB 53.  Enjoy the game, everyone!  We'll be back on Monday to celebrate another correct selection.  (Ed. Note:  I've placed MY wager.)  Have fun, and we'll see ya next week!

The Aces Casino Blog: 2-For-2! Not Bad, But We Can Do Better. (As Long As We Have Honey, The "Super-Bowl-Predicting Dog" Doing The Picking! But First, Some Historical Background On How We Got Here

(Ed. Note: The Annual "Aces Casino Blog Super Bowl Selection Series" was one of our favorite treks into the Blog's "Theater of the Bizarre" from our inception in 1994, to February. 2016.  The various animals that made all of our picks racked up 21 winners in a row, until Onyx, the Zoo Panther, selected Carolina, which lost to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50.  Because of the loss, the blog staff at that time decided to not make any more Super Bowl selections, that the shine was lost.

Not so.

So, after taking two years off, and passing on Super Bowls 51 and 52, the Aces Casino Blog has decided to return to the companies' irreverent roots, and re-activate the Aces Casino Entertainment Super Bowl 53 Selection Series, taking a record of 21 wins and one loss into Super Bowl 53.

And, to help things along in the history of the selections, we've decided to re-play one of the older Aces Casino Blog posts, that chronicled the history of the "picks."  This Blog post originally aired on February 4th, 2016.  Let the historical lesson begin.)

Without question, the staff here at Aces Casino Entertainment (A.K.A. the top orange county casino night party company on the west coast) has been blessed with what is the best job in the world.  Think about it -- We get to bring our crazy casino party crew to some of the best events in southern California, hob-nob with tons of great celebs and super clients, and also, one other thing -- We call it our second job --

Picking Super Bowl winners.

Well, it really didn't start out that way.  Our fine orange county casino party company was founded back on April 15th, 1994, and found that what we all did better than anyone else in our industry was provide state-of-the-art Las Vegas night casino parties, and truly entertain each and every one of our hundreds of clients better than anyone else around with our kooky, irreverent style.  People just love us.

So, near the end of our first year, when the annual NFL Championship Game came around, also known as the Super Bowl,  well, we thought it would be fun to supply the world with our selection of the winner of the game, "in our own irreverent style."  We figured who best to make the picks for us than our theme park-neighbor, Henny Penny, from Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park.  Here's the link to that chronological chicken-pickin' history....

Well, Henny picked the 49ers that fine day back in early 1995 (Ed. Note: before the internet, unfortunately), so, each and every year thereafter, we'd wander back over to Knott's, pester the handler of the chicken until he'd let us use that piano-playing prognosticator for our evil gambling deeds, and have Henny pick another winner.  Which she did.  (Dallas.)

And Another.  (Green Bay.)

And Another.  (Denver, which we thought was a SURE loser vs. the Packers.)   And Another.  (Denver, AGAIN.)

All totaled, That darned egg-laying wizard picked SEVENTEEN SUPER BOWL WINNERS IN A ROW, closing out the show with her winning pick of Green Bay on February 1st, 2011.  Here's the link to that piece of history.... Then came the saddest day of our football lives - Two local news channels (Ed. Note: From a tip we provided. Hey, free advertising.  Can't beat THAT.) came to chronicle Henny's Super Bowl 46 pick over at the theme park.  Unfortunately, when we arrived with our two helmets to pick from like every year prior, the Berry Farm's security put an immediate stop to the show, claiming (truthfully, as we found out) that the Henny Penny setup had been "retired," and was no longer an exhibit at the park.

No one knew where the chicken was (Ed. Note: We could all GUESS, of course, with the Chicken Dinner restaurant just 40 yards away), and found we were out of luck.  And... Promptly escorted out of the building.

Well, if you know ANYTHING about Aces Casino Entertainment, you KNEW that we would find another way to get our selection.  So, we searched the internet for any qualified animal that could continue our tradition. So, in 2012, we turned to Papa, the miniature donkey, who promptly picked the New York Giants (Ed. Note: Gasp! We thought that was a loser for sure, against the 18-0 Patriots!)... Here's that pick....

The GIANTS??  Hey, that's why we use animals. Winn-ah, winn-ah..

In 2013 (after Papa's handlers told us to go away and not bother them for any more picks), we turned to Baby, the pigskin-predicting pachyderm, and got our 19th straight win....

Go Ravens!  (In our most controversial pick.)

Now, when Baby picked up the Ravens melon, we immediately went with that pick, and voted NOT to go with someone's idea that the ravens would be "eaten" by the 49ers.  Hey, we've always gone with the first touch, and the Ravens were that.  Check out the vid for yourself, that's a winner!

2014 was Teddy Bear, the Hedgehog.  (Ed. Note: It's a PORCUPINE, you dope, NOT a Hedgehog!)  This pick, I agreed with.

20 in a row.

2015 turned out to be our first snafu, when we picked Honey, the Aces Casino Mascot / Puggle, to make the pick for SB 49.  But, after many tries across two days to provide her with the chance to make history,  she declined every time.  Here's THAT link...

Nice goin', Honey.  Angel fan, should have known.

No problem.... The selection is in for Super Bowl 50, the pick was made on Monday, February 1st, by Onyx, the Panther from the Miami Zoological Society (Ed. Note: Just search our archives for THAT pick), and we're going for an unprecedented 21 straight winners.  Enjoy the Super Bowl, and we'll see you back here on Monday, with the Pickin'-post-mortems!

The Aces Casino Blog: Next Week - Honey, The Aces Casino Mascot, Goes for 22 Super Bowl Picks In a Row. Today, We Predict The AFC And NFC Champs

We figured, "what have we got to lose?"

There's no pressure on US, also known as the crew from the top orange county casino party company in SoCal, Aces Casino Entertainment.... We've never suffered defeat at the hands of our own football prognostication.  (Ed. Note:  You've never TRIED to pick anything. or any games.  You're zero-and-zero.)

Well, today, we break that streak of "no picks."  Here are our selections for both the AFC and NFC Championship Games, to be played this Sunday, starting at Noon, with the Los Angeles Rams traveling to New Orleans, to take on the #1 seed Saints, at the Superdome.

OK, here we go....

12:05 PST - Los Angeles Rams at New Orleans Saints

Opening line -- NO -3.5   Current line -- NO -3

Our selection -- Rams +3

Analysis -- We're glad to see the Rams get their rushing mojo back against the Dallas Cowboys last weekend, to the tune of 273 yards on the ground.  They'll need to be able to run on the Saints to open up Sean McVay's playbook, and control the line of scrimmage.  On the other hand, the Saints have lost a little bit of the luster off of their deep passing portion of their playbook.  Ted Ginn returns to the Saints' lineup after being out for two months - That may help stretch the L.A. defense, but we're convinced that the Rams know how to beat New Orleans, and their raucus fan base.  Give us the Rammies, plus the three.

3:40pm PST - New England Patriots at Kansas City Chiefs

Opening line -- KC -3   Current line -- KC -3

Our selection -- Patriots +3

Analysis -- This is an easy one, like picking our orange county casino night party company to perform at your next fundraiser....Tom Brady and Bill Belichick vs. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid.  Who would YOU take?  Looking at the schedules of the two teams, we found out some interesting things.  In 2018, the Patriots BEAT the Bears, they BEAT the Colts, they BEAT the Chiefs, lost to the Steelers, and they BEAT the Chargers, four of the five best teams on their sched.  4-and-1 against the teams that got their attention.  The Chiefs?  They lost to the Rams, they lost to the Patriots, they beat the Steelers, they went 1-and-1 vs. the Chargers, and they beat the Colts.  (3-and-3.)  The Patriots looked as good last week against the Chargers then I've ever seen them in a LOOONG time.  They've got the smarter coaching staff, and the seasoned QB.  If the time of possession runs 35/25 NE, it's over.  The weather?  Not much of a factor, the Pats live in the winter snow.  Pats by 13.

Well, that's it, from the best orange county casino party on the west coast -- Aces Casino Entertainment.  Come on back new week, as we chronicle the amazing Super Bowl run that our "team" of NFL game pickers" have been on, since our inception back in 1994.  See you next week!

Even at two weeks old, I had that look of a champion.

The Aces Casino Blog: Contrary To Popular Opinion, The Aces Blog Crew Was NOT a victim of the Government Shutdown (But We Ditched, Anyway)

Ahhh, It's good to be back.

For those of you that wondered where the top orange county casino party Blog crew was these last few months, well, we were pre-empted by the company's fantasy football hijackers, who had a team in the "Final Four," whatever that is.

The good news is … They choked in the playoffs, and didn't repeat as champions.

Gee, that's too bad.

So -- Yes, we are back, and, during our vacation, we've developed quite a few topics to ponder in the coming weeks, months, and year.  Yep -- We're loaded.  (Ed. Note: THAT'S no surprise.  And, for the record, we forgot to change our fantasy football lineup on our last week.  That's why we lost, we did NOT "choke.")

But -- Since it's still REAL football season, and not FAKE football season, we thought it'd be a good idea to return to our roots and bring back one of the more popular blog threads that has been a part of the Blog since, well, before the Blog was born.

Our infamous "Annual Aces Casino Blog Super Bowl Prediction!"

Now, for those of you that haven't kept up on our annual Super Bowl "dart-throw," the staff here at Aces Casino Entertainment, also known as the top orange county casino night party crew on the west coast, thought that it'd be a great idea to provide the masses with our Super Bowl game prediction.

Now, WE didn't want to be the group that made some dopey pick, and found out that we picked the wrong team, thus perpetually staining our reputation in the football prognostication business.

So, we decided to let someone ELSE pick the winner for us.  Someone with impeccable talent, and an eye for winners.

We chose Henny-Penny, the famous Knotts Berry Farm piano-playing chicken.  Here's the link to THAT chicken-pickin-phenom, and the subsequent selections, courtesy of the top orange county casino night team, Aces Casino. (Ed. Note:  Shameless plug.)

Papa, still another correct picker.

We've found more links to the Super Bowl picks, here and here.  Here's one vid we found....

From Henny-Penny, to Anastasia, and all points east and west, we've had a terrific run at this Super Bowl-thingy.  As you may have surmised from our past Blog posts on this subject, we now use Honey, the office's mascot and latest picker-extraordinaire, to officially make our selections.  And, she will do so, on Thursday, January 31, also known as "Pick-time!"

We'll have more links to the Henny-Penny story right here, when we find them in our vast array of dumb Aces Casino Blog posts, so stay tuned.  We'll be back on Thursday with more goofiness, courtesy of Aces Casino Entertainment, the top orange county casino party company on the west coast!
